Lesson Plan Handbook Revision 2.2, 2003. New revision August 2005.
This Handbook provides guidance for flight instructors and flight instructor applicants as to how to
research and prepare lesson plans. The only lesson plans that will be truly beneficial for instructors are
those that they develop themselves. This Handbook provides resources and examples of various types
of training aids that can be developed by instructors. A final section explains how to research and study
for the FAA Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) knowledge test by finding and highlighting all of the
questions within your copy of the FAA’s Aviation Instructor’s Handbook FAA-H-8083-9. By doing this
you will not only do very well on the knowledge test but also be better prepared for the CFI oral and flight
test and also have a more thorough understanding of the material as you practice the craft of flight

Flight Instructor Refresher Clinic Course Manual The most current publication
from the most recent course, updated 3-7 times each year. This Manual contains about two hundred pages of
resources for updating and refreshing a flight instructor’s library. All of the handbooks and guides
described above with the exception of the Lesson Plan Handbook are included. This Course Manual
includes scores of internet references, several dozen suggested text and reference publications and
numerous training aids, discussions and checklists to assist flight instructors to better serve their students.
This Manual was developed for and is the Course Manual of the FAA Approved Flight Instructor
Refresher Clinics presented by Hoffman Pilot Center, Inc. HPC has conducted more than 85 FIRCs since
1978. ~200 pages, 8½ x 11 three ring hard cover notebook, of handbooks, guides, checklists, references and resources.
